Opportunities 2012

Outdoor sonic-performance ensemble The Pressure Company have a number of opportunities available in summer 2012 for collaboration and participation in our touring show 'The Semi-Automatic Bandstand'. Part interactive sound installation and part performance, the new show features our collection of sound sculptures and acoustic devices animating the public realm with a new genre of outdoor entertainment and creative adventures... 1st up...

We are looking for an individual to work with us on developing the dramatic orchestration and arrangement of our sound devices across soundtrack, song, and groove formats. The principle area of work will be in co-devising and writing a new narrative and character based performance 'module' for the existing show, alongside opportunities to write new songs and to sequence groove-based arrangements for improv and interaction with the public.

The Bandstand toured in the UK over the summer of 2011 and we are currently working on securing further development finance and touring arrangements within the UK and EU for 2012 and future seasons.

As this opportunity is for collaboration and co-working we are open to a wide range of approaches and skill sets from interested individuals, and looking more to fit the final brief to the person selected than set a fixed 'person spec' at this stage.

Key Attributes:

• + Experience in directing & delivering sound-work in a theatrical / performance context

• + Software midi sequencing

• + Collaborative approach

• + Experience in supporting and developing musical imagination of 'non-musicians'

Considerations:

• + The work schedule and brief will have flexiblity to accomodate the commitments and participation level of the selected collaborator.
  
  + The work will take place mainly at our workshop in central Manchester, with rehearsals in Cheshire.
  
  + Accomodation and subsistence will be available for those outside of the Manchester area.
  
  + A negotiable fee will be payable to cover remuneration and expenses.

• ~  1/2 day 'lab session' / interviews : Mon 23rd / Tues 24th / Wedn 25th April
